Google is bringing prediction markets into the mainstream of financial information. The company has struck an agreement with Kalshi Inc. and Polymarket to display their real-time market data directly within Google Finance results, further blurring the line between traditional investing and speculative forecasting.
Announced Thursday, the partnership will show constantly updated odds from the two exchanges whenever users look up information about future events, such as economic indicators or political outcomes. The financial details of Google’s arrangement with the two platforms, both of which run active prediction markets, were not disclosed.
For Kalshi and Polymarket, the collaboration represents a major validation from one of the world’s largest tech companies. Both exchanges have faced skepticism from regulators and traditional investors, often dismissed as gambling platforms rather than legitimate financial tools. Yet, each has seen record-breaking activity in recent months, driven largely by interest in sports and political betting.
Despite the regulatory scrutiny, both firms are eager to frame their products as a data-driven way to gauge collective expectations about real-world events — from economic growth and inflation to weather outcomes and geopolitical risks.
Their markets became particularly visible during the recent U.S. elections, when the constantly shifting odds on both platforms were widely cited by news outlets as a more dynamic measure of public sentiment than traditional polling.
A Google spokesperson said the integration would let users “harness the wisdom of the crowds,” offering real-time probabilities on future events such as GDP growth directly within finance-related searches.
Representatives for Kalshi and Polymarket declined to comment on the announcement.
The move highlights a broader convergence between information and speculation in global markets. Once limited to niche crypto communities, prediction data is now gaining traction among analysts as an alternative signal for forecasting risk, even though liquidity and scale remain inconsistent.
For Google, incorporating prediction data fits into its larger strategy to enrich search results with probabilistic insights and live data streams, leveraging artificial intelligence to help users interpret complex market dynamics in real time.
